of water (commonly referred to as ditching) is a rare event in aviation and may be caused by mechanical failure, fuel exhaustion, weather conditions, or human error. To the knowledge of the authors, there is a paucity of research on the subject and likewise few, if any, studies on occupant survivability post-ditching.
